Celebrities are racing to buy their dream homes, making the most of the slump in property prices
This seems to be the season for house-warming parties in Bollywood. Taking advantage of the slump in theu00a0 real estate market, celebrities are rushing to buy their dream homes in prime locations across the city.
Saif Ali Khan, Imtiaz Ali and Kishan Kumar are among those who have bought homes, while Deepika Padukone and Anu Malik are on the verge of closing deals.

While the common man is still reeling under the economic slowdown, Bollywood A-listers are using the slump in the property prices to buy their dream homes. More than half a dozen celebrities, including Saif Ali Khan, Imtiaz Ali and Kishan Kumar, have picked up properties in prime locations. Others like Deepika Padukone and Anu Malik are scouting around.
Vibhoo Mehra from Mumbai Properties, a real estate brokering firm based in Khar, confirmed that in the last one month he has received queries from celebrity clients. "After the slowdown, most celebs held back. But now with the slump in real estate prices, celebrity clients have been approaching me, and I am on the verge of finalising several deals," said Mehra.
According to sources, Saif Ali Khan bought a 4-BHK flat measuring 3,200 sq ft in Fortune Heights, Bandra, for Rs 7.5 crore last week, and Jab We Met director Imtiaz Ali bought a 2+2 BHK flat in Oberoi Springs on Andheri Link Road for nearly Rs 4.5 crore. Producer and brother of late Gulshan Kumar, Kishan Kumar bought a four BHK measuring 5,000 sq ft in Orchid Breeze, near Khar Gymkhana for Rs 11 crore.
Almost there
Sources also revealed that actor Deepika Padukone has finalised a 4-BHK apartment in Tisha building in Mount Mary, and even music composer Anu Malik has almost closed a deal in Sadguru Kalyan building.
Another property dealer, Vijay from B Khandari properties, claims that the market isn't as bad as it is being projected. "The property prices have come down, and builders are offering good deals. So, more and more celebrities are coming out to get the best deals," said Vijay.
Even actors feel they have got a decent deal.
Producer Kishan Kumar, says, "I was searching for a flat for sometime, but couldn't find one. This one that I bought is a good deal. I liked the building a lot as well."
A source close to Saif confirmed the deal. "Yes, Saif has bought the 10th floor of the building," said the source.
Imtiaz is in Dubai and did not respond to our calls and messages. However, both Deepika and Malik, who are rumoured to be searching for homes, denied it.
