The duo was hospitalized for two days for their injuries. It was when the police reached the spot and interrogated them, that they realized the misunderstanding.
According to police, one of the victims identified as Abhizul Noor Islam (26) had stepped out to urinate with Taurikul Zameer Ali (21) behind Sandstone residential apartments in the area. Both of them were wearing boxers and vests. “Ali left early and returned home, however when Islam didn’t, one of the roommates identified as Himadul Khairullah Mandal went looking for him. As soon as he saw Islam loitering in the area, he called out to him, which made the watchman suspect and he then called all the residents,” a police officer from Kanikia police station requesting anonymity said.

Last week, the chaddi banyan gang had attacked the building but the watchman stopped them from doing much harm. “Suspecting Islam and Mandal could be the member of chaddi banyan gang, since they were wearing similar clothes, the watchman called the locals and assaulted them,” added the officer.
The duo’s identity was revealed once the cops reached the spot. “They are labourers at an under construction building near Laxmi Park and were taken to Shatabdi Hospital after the incident. While Mandal got seven stitches in his leg while Islam ended up with several internal injuries,” said an officer.
