A 34-year-old Russian woman has accused a 56-year-old police officer of holding her in captivity and repeatedly raping her for close to 14 years. The woman filed an FIR against the cop at Chembur police station on Thursday night.

In her complaint, the woman said she came to Mumbai in 2004 to become a film star. She tried her luck in Bollywood for a year but when her visa expired, she started looking for help to either extend her visa or get an Indian passport.
In 2005, she came in touch with the accused, who was then an assistant inspector at Chembur police station. The officer agreed to help her and also offered to help her find an accommodation. He then kept in captivity and blackmailed her with threats of getting her arrested over expired visa, the woman alleged, adding that he had been raping her since then.
The officer had allegedly later taken her to Pune while he was posted at Pimpri-Chinchwad Crime Branch. However, he was arrested on Sepetmber 28 for accepting a bribe by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Pune. She grabbed the opportunity and came to Mumbai, where she contacted advocate Nitin Satpute, who helped her file the FIR.
The woman has alleged that in 2011, the officer had murdered a Russian man after his sister died of drug overdose in a rave party thrown by the accused in Raigad. He was posted with the Anti-Narcotics Cell at Raigad back then.
"The victim reached out to me, we took her to Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, who directed Chembur police to register the offence," said Satpute. The police were in the process of filing an FIR when this newspaper went to print.
