Indrani Mukerjea had allegedly promised Rs 10 lakh to her driver, Shyam Rai, for helping to murder her daughter Sheena Bora in 2012, said sources in the police, who added that she later reneged on this promise and only gave him Rs 1 lakh.

Just yesterday, mid-day reported how Shyam’s wife Sharda claimed that 'rich people' had framed him in the case (‘My husband is scared of the dark, how could he kill someone?’). This paper had also reported yesterday that Indrani had dismissed Shyam from his job some six months ago, saying she no longer needed a driver as she was settling abroad.
