Following the bomb blasts, schools and colleges in South Mumbai plan to educate students about the need to be alert to suspicious elements and activities around them

To ensure that youngsters become more vigilant of suspicious activities around them in the wake of the serial bomb blasts, educational institutes in the city have decided to caution their students to be observant of their surroundings, especially during assemblies.

Teachers believe students should be specially alert in assemblies
since mass gatherings are vulnerable to terror attacks

Since a large number of students gather at one place, that makes them a vulnerable target for terror outfits, teachers believe.

Manjur Ahmed, president of Head Masters' Association in South Mumbai, said, "At an award function on Sunday and Tuesday at the National Kannada High School in Wadala, 596 students from all over South Mumbai will be present.

In this event, we plan to raise the issue of terrorism and the importance of being alert against suspicious activities around the school premises."

The exercise will help in raising awareness at the student level.u00a0 Meanwhile, principal of Hinduja College on Charni Road, T Shiware, asserted, "Our students are petrified. We have assured them safety in the college premises and asked them to be cautious at all times."

Elaborating on the menace of the garage opposite the institution, the principal said, "We have sent a letter to the CM, South Mumbai MP Milind Deora and the Police Commissioner, stating that illegal cars are being parked outside the school's premises, which is a no-parking zone.
