Constable Sheetal Shivaji Bhosale registered an FIR against a 22 year-old student, who allegedly abused and beat her after he was prevented from entering his society in Lalbaug since he wasn't carrying an identity card.
According to a police press release, the incident occurred at 2.15 pm on August 8.
The accused, Tejal Madhukar Panhale, a resident of Sahjeevan building in Ganesh Nagar, Lalbaug, was entering his society when Bhosale stopped him and asked for his identity card.
Cards have been issued to Lalbaug residents for security reasons. Panhale got into an argument with Bhosale, and reportedly ended up abusing her.
Bhosale, a Ghatkopar resident, has lodged an FIR at Kalachowkie police station. Panhale is absconding.
Last year, a cop was thrashed at Lalbaugcha Raja for the same reason.
