The incident took place around 9.45 am when Patil, who was allegedly standing by the door due to the overcrowded train, lost his balance after the train passed Thane creek. Thane GRP confirmed that he was taken to Thane Civil Hospital by his co passengers, an unidentified man and a woman who were travelling in the same compartment.
However, as Patil had sustained a serious head injury along with other severe injuries on his body, he couldn’t survive the fall. Doctors from Thane Civil Hospital said that he was pronounced brought dead, as there was no pulse. GRP officials said that they found a ticket and a mobile on Patil’s person and managed to contact his family.
“We registered an ADR in the matter and contacted his family who identified him. After the post mortem, the body was handed over to his wife Naina Patil and his elder brother,” said Head Constable Kumbhar from Thane GRP.
