The BMC has pegged the total number of deaths at 14 so far. Six new cases were also registered on Thursday.
A 38 year-old man from Malad and another 40 year-old man from Reay road are the newest victims of Lepto. The Malad resident was admitted to a civic hospital on July 5th where he died on July 6th. The Reay Road resident was admitted on July 7th and he died on July 8th. Both had tested positive for Lepto and Malaria.
According to a statement issued by the civic body, officials have visited 14,649 houses where 52 cases of fever were detected and treated. Also, to create awareness among people of the deadly disease, it has undertaken 420 group talks, 252 inter-personal talks and displayed 400 posters. Anti-rodent activities involve covering of 6253 houses so far.
