Twelve lakh WR commuters hit after mob disrupts Borivali-Virar trains.

Mumbai's Western Railway services were badly hit this morning when agitated mob disrupted services between Borivali and Virar after a train was cancelled this morning. The violent mob also attacked the media covering their agitation.

The problem started at 8 am when few Borivali trains were cancelled and the other Borivali trains were arriving at platform No 8. The passengers were irate by the fact that Virar-bound locals coming on platform number 1, 2 and 3 were jam-packed. At least, 12 lakh people have been hit by this agitation.

Western Railway CPRO explained the reason for cancellation of trains. "Last night a cable stolen near Malad station which we had to replace. Only one train from Borivali had to be cancelled so that the entire schedule falls in right place," he said.

Shikha Shah, a commuter stranded at Borivali station for over 45 mins said, "There are more than 500 people on the track. They are demanding more local services from Borivali. Buses are packed, rickshaws are refusing to go to Andheri due to traffic jam."

Trains are now moving slowly between Goregaon and Borivali. However, Sneha Shah, a passenger stuck at Charni Road station said, "The trains are running at a very slow pace and taking frequent halts. Two outstations trains are also delayed."
