Airport managers
Airport managers comprise either government employees from the Airport Authority of India or Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) authorities.
While, AAI employees fear being transferred out of Mumbai under the Operation, Management and Development Agreement (OMDA) period MIAL employees are unhappy with the economic slowdown hitting the airport operator.u00a0

Airline ground staff and loaders at the Mumbai airport stare at an uncertain future. After July, those working with various airlines fear a job loss, when a new policy that disallows private carriers to engage in ground handling due to security reasons is implemented.
A ten per cent job cut appears inevitable despite the government's reassurances that 8,000 jobs in Mumbai and Delhi airports will be secured.
Latest incident
At 8 am on Thursday, a CISF personnel allegedly roughed up Alston D'Mello, an airport manager, attached to MIAL, at the airport, leading to chaos at Terminal 1A, which caters to Kingfisher Airlines and Air India. MIAL did not register a complaint, as the issue was amicably resolved.u00a0

The violent behaviour of CISF guards should be investigated because these men are armed and they deal with passengers. Such violence may prove fatal. There has been an incident in the past where a CISF guard attacked his colleagues / superior with a service weapon. Psychological factors behind the incident, u00a0if any, should also be u00a0looked into and corrective measures adopted accordingly. Sadly, not even a police complaint has been lodged in this case.
