Officials attribute the numbers to the sheer size of the Andheri West-Vile Parle area, and air travellers and New Year parties in Bandra

The H West ward comprising Bandra, Khar and Santacruz has been hit the worst during the ongoing third Covid-19 wave. It added 12,851 cases in the past 26 days, which is 42 per cent of the total tally of 21 months from March 2020 to December 2021. Civic officials said the rise was because it comprises a large population of national and international passengers. The K West ward, including Andheri, saw maximum cases, but the growth was 32 per cent.
