The Mahayuti, which includes BJP and Shiv Sena, on Friday emerged as the dominant force in the 131-member Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), securing an overwhelming 103 seats in the home turf of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
According to official data, the Shiv Sena won 75 seats, while the BJP secured 28, giving the ruling alliance a commanding majority in the civic body. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and contesting the polls separately despite being a Mahayuti ally, won nine seats.
