Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday alleged that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is facing a fiscal deficit of Rs 3 lakh crore, claiming that money owed by the civic body to contractors was misused and diverted for election expenditure, purportedly benefiting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Speaking at the release of the joint manifesto of Shiv Sena (UBT), the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar), Thackeray said, “According to my information, the BMC owes contractors Rs 3 lakh crore, pointing to a scam of Rs 3 lakh crore.”
