While there is still uncertainty over the schedule of BMC election slated for 2022, the process of ward restructuring and awareness to update voters registration has started at the administration level. The civic body has compiled data regarding ward restructuring and is waiting for a nod from the state election commission.

The preparation for the election is going on in full swing. The ruling party has started inauguration of projects while the opposition is levelling allegations of corruption.  The term of the current corporation will end in the first week of March. Generally, elections are held in February, but this time there is still confusion over the schedule due to COVID-19 pandemic as well as the row over OBC quota.
