Move comes as a maintenance measure, as vehicles of security guards often fail to reach spots of fire due to bad road; gutter will be used to drain out excess rainwater

The Deonar dumping ground
A 2.5-KM road and a drainage line are set to be constructed at the Deonar dumping ground, along its periphery adjacent to human habitat, at a cost of Rs 33 crore.
After continuous fires at the dumping ground, the High Court, in 2016, asked the civic body to take steps to increase safety and appointed a committee to suggest measures. The committee suggested fencing of the ground, installation of CCTV cameras and stationing of security guards. While the BMC already installed cameras and appointed security guards, there have been instances when the vehicles of security guards could not reach the spot in emergency situations due to the bad condition of the road.
