A fire broke out in a residential building in Kurla West near HDIL Residential complex on Wednesday morning, officials said.
A 70-year-old female identified as Shakuntala Ramani was rescued and shifted to Rajawadi hospital where she was declared brought dead. According to the officials, the fire broke out at 6.56 am on Wednesday morning and was extinguished by 8.42 am.

The Mumbai fire Brigade declared it to be a Level 1 fire incident.
The fire started at a shop in Iraniwadi, Shantilal Modi Road, opposite Asian Bakery around 9.45 pm.
A civic official said that after receiving a call, Fire Brigade vehicles immediately rushed to the spot and doused the fire within 15-20 minutes.
No one was injured, the official said. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
"There has been pocket fires from the 4th to 10 floor of the building. Stranded Residents are rescued and removed to terrace. Three hose lines (two high pressure and one first aid line of JT) in operation," said the civic official.
