BSPCA asks pig owners to stay alert

The Bombay Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA) has appealed to people who rear pigs in the city to come to their centre if they notice any signs of Influenza A in the pigs

The Bombay Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA) has appealed to people who rear pigs in the city to come to their centre if they notice any signs of Influenza A in the pigs.

According to J C Khanna, secretary of the BSPCA, though there isn't a fear of the virus being transmitted from animals to human beings, pigs will have to be observed for any symptoms as a precautionary measure.Two pigs, which were rescued and housed at the BSPCA centre, are being tested for the virus. The enclosure that houses the pigs is also being disinfected.
