CBI’s Deputy Superintendent NR Meena, who investigated the murder case of mid-day’s veteran journalist J Dey, has been rewarded with a presidential medal. The court had awarded life imprisonment to Chhota Rajan and other convicts, who were part of the conspiracy.
Meena was the DY Superintendent in CBI Mumbai and was appointed as investigating officer for the high profile murder case. The major part of the investigation was carried out by the Mumbai Police and later CBI arrested one more accused in the case. It was Meena who, during his investigation, found out that Rajan planned the murder of Dey. What led to his probe was his book titled ‘Chindi Rags to Riches’ that he was planning to write, describing how Rajan became an underworld don with the help of local goons in Chembur.
