Juhu businessman files complaint at Andheri police station against lady inspector for misplacing crucial evidence about his case; cop claims to have forgotten where she kept the papers
Juhu-based businessman Pavitra Anand has lodged a complaint with M.I.D.C police station in Andheri (East), against lady sub-inspector Rajni Salunkhe for allegedly misplacing documents that were crucial evidence in a cheating case that he has filed at the police station. Last week, Anand asked senior cops at the station to take action against Salunkhe for misplacing crucial documents relating to his case.
According to the complaint (a copy of which is with SMD), Andheri based company M/S Dess Computers Private Limited was suffering from a financial crisis. Anand, a private financier, got in touch with the company. After a discussion with Dilip Ganeriwal (one of the MDs) on September 11, 2008, he handed a cheque of Rs 2 lakh, on the understanding that he would be given a stake in the company.
However, Anand alleges that even after 90 days of the transaction, Ganeriwal did not honour the agreement. In January 2011, Anand registered a complaint at M.I.D.C police station in this regard. Ganeriwal was then summoned to the police station for an enquiry by Salunkhe, and paid Rs 35,000 as interest in the form of six cheques. But the cheques were later dishonoured.
When Anand contacted Salunkhe to follow up on the case, he was shocked that the original copy of the agreement, had been misplaced. "After repeated reminders over a period of four months, Salunkhe failed to recover the documents," said an aggrieved Anand.
"I was on leave for a long time, so I don't recall where have I kept the papers. They will be somewhere in the police station. Once I find them, I will return them to Anand," said Salunkhe. When contacted, a furious Ganeriwal threatened this reporter. "You can publish the story at own risk. If my lawyer takes action, don't expect any help from our side." Later, a man claiming to be Venkatesh, son of Ganeriwal, called and said, "We have not done anything wrong. Pavitra Anand is cheating us. He is claiming to have helped us out with Rs 5 crore. Rs 2 lakh is nothing for us."
