The Congress Legislature Party gathered at the party headquarters in Vidhan Bhawan, Mumbai on Thursday. Led by Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole and Congress Legislature Party leader Balasaheb Thorat, the meeting addressed recent political changes in the state, reported ANI.

According to the report, during the conference, Satej Patel, INC Maharashtra's Legislative Party Leader, emphasised the importance of the gathering by mentioning recent political happenings. He declared that Chandrakant Handore, the Congress party's nominee, would file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections, along with leaders of the 'Maha Vikas Aghadi' coalition.

Per ANI, Patel said, "In view of the political developments that have taken place in Maharashtra in the last three days, a meeting has been called. Yesterday also we called a meeting and our meeting is being held."

Patel stated that Handore's nomination submission would have the participation of all parties, including the NCP, SP, Shivsena, and Samajwadi Party, the report added.

"After the meet, our Rajyasabha Candidate Chandrakant Handore will file nomination where all our ally parties NCP SP, Shivsena, Samajwadi party among others will be present," Patel further told ANI.

Chandrakant Handore thanked the Congress party for nominating him to the upper chamber, emphasising the party's dedication to helping all segments of society, particularly the impoverished.

"The Congress party has been respecting all sections of society for years. It has also helped the poor class, and it will continue to do so in the future" Handore said.

Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ashok Chavan resigned from the Congress party and joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after reportedly disagreeing with state chairman Nana Patole. Chavan has been nominated as the BJP's candidate from Maharashtra for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections on February 27, with results likely on the same day.

Ashok Chavan told media a day after his induction, "It’s a new beginning for me after 38 years. I want to contribute positively to the country’s development under Modiji’s leadership. I will abide by the policy and directives of the BJP. I worked with honesty in the Congress and I will do so for the BJP’s political success."
