On Tuesday, a total of 19,519 tests were conducted in the city, which has a test positivity rate (TPR) of 5.2 per cent, slightly lower than Monday’s 5.6 per cent.

The daily COVID-19 cases in the city have been a little over 1,000 for the past 10 days, with the daily number of recoveries being almost the same over the past five days. On Tuesday, the city reported 1,012 fresh cases and 1,051 patients were discharged after full recovery. The state reported slightly more than 9,000 cases while 12,000 patients were discharged the same day. Maharashtra saw 56 deaths, while the city registered two.
Daily cases in the city started increasing from February 9. In a week, a daily average of 400 cases increased to 800 and then further to over a 1,000. But since the last 10 days, the number has remained between 1,000 and 1,200. About 5,741 new cases were added from Friday and 5,431 patients recovered in the same period of five days, so the active number of cases in the city remained 10,500.
