As daily cases begin to slide in the state, rising fatalities are keeping officials on their toes. Maharashtra hit another record with 974 deaths on Sunday, while Mumbai saw 60 people falling prey to the coronavirus.

Mumbai reported 1,544 new cases, slightly up from the previous day’s count of 1,447. It discharged 2,438 patients, bringing down the overall count of active cases to 35,702. In the state, fresh infections numbered below 35,000.
