Even as the state recorded over 3,000 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, Mumbai too continued to see a spike in cases, reporting over 500, for the fourth day in a row. With 3,661 new cases, Saturday’s numbers took the total tally of Maharashtra to 20.60 lakh cases.

The total number of COVID-related deaths recorded in the state was 38, increasing the total to 51,489 deaths. While Mumbai reported 529 new cases, Thane Municipal Corporation, Navi Mumbai and Kalyan Dombivli Corporation recorded 90, 78 and 74 cases, respectively.
The state’s recovery rate now stands at 95.83 per cent with 1,773 patients discharged across the state on Saturday. Mumbai’s recovery rate stands at 94 per cent, while the doubling rate has dropped to 472 days. The city has 5,276 active cases. The mortality rate in the state is at 2.5 per cent. Meanwhile, the state saw 1.52 crore of laboratory samples collected since March 2020, of which 20.6 lakh tested positive.
