With restrictions imposed in many districts of the state, owing to a surge in COVID-19 cases, those looking for respite in numbers will be disappointed. Even as Maharashtra recorded over 15,000 cases in a span of 24 hours, Mumbai recorded 1,709 cases on Saturday.

The state’s mortality rate also shot up, with 88 COVID-related deaths being recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s total to 52,811.
