“We have operationalised an additional 3,000 COVID-19 beds in various hospitals under BMC in the past seven days. The beds available on our real-time live dashboard has gone up from 12,906 to 15,971. Citizens should occupy beds wherever available for immediate treatment if they are symptomatic, as the treatment protocol is similar everywhere and patients are becoming critical while waiting for a hospital of their choice. At least 4,160 beds were vacant for allotment last night at 11.17 pm,” he said.
“We are operationalising an additional 3,000 beds (including 400 in ICUs) in the coming seven days. We have also operationalised 30 COVID-19 Centre (CCCs) facilities for asymptomatic positive patients in past seven days with capacity to accommodate 4,600 patients. Another 18,300 COVID Care Centres' beds are available in reserve with us,” he added.
The COVID-19 situation in Mumbai and the rest of the state has become more worrisome. For the first time since the pandemic hit, Mumbai recorded 9,000 new cases in a span of 24 hours on Saturday. The total count is 4,41,282 cases till now. This is the highest single-day corona cases count for the third consecutive day on Saturday.
