While Mumbai reports 283 fresh cases, Maharashtra sees a rise with 5,132 new infections

Mumbai saw a significant rise in the daily COVID-19 cases on Wednesday as the figure went past 200. The city also recorded a marginal rise in the test positivity rate (TPR) at 0.73 per cent. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 283 new cases and five COVID fatalities were registered in the city on Wednesday.
It was on August 16 that the daily number fell below 200. The TPR dipped below 1 per cent for the first time in the second wave on July 29.
