Maharashtra is expected to witness spells of heavy rain over the next few days thanks to the effects of Cyclone Gulab, which will be making landfall on Sunday night on the east coast. As the cyclone weakens into a low-pressure area and moves westwards, it will cause heavy to very heavy rainfall along with gusty winds in some districts including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and others.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow alert for Mumbai for Monday, indicating heavy rainfall spells for the day, followed by an Orange alert on Tuesday, which is when the Konkan region is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rain. Neighbouring districts of Thane, Palghar, and Raigad are on Red alert for Tuesday.
