Cyclone Phyan threatens India's west coast

The cyclone over the Arabian Sea on Wednesday was likely to intensify further and cross the Indian coast between north Maharashtra and south Gujarat in the early hours of Thursday, says the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The cyclone over the Arabian Sea on Wednesday was likely to intensify further and cross the Indian coast between north Maharashtra and south Gujarat in the early hours of Thursday, says the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

However the good news for Mumbaikars is that the cyclone will miss the island city. Cylone Phyan that is now 350 kilometres south west off the Mumbai coast will proceed up north and will reach Alibaug and Valsad by late evening tonight.
