Wednesday records 50 per cent jump in fresh infections over the previous day; TPR crosses 1

New cases soared to 490 on Wednesday, a rise of nearly 50 per cent over Tuesday, as the city’s test positivity rate raced to 1.08 per cent. On the fatalities front, it was the sixth zero since the beginning of the pandemic and fifth this month. Across Maharashtra, daily infections went up significantly, going past the 1,200-mark.
While the lowest TPR of the second wave was registered at 0.28 per cent on December 1, the city’s first zero death was reported on October 17. In this month, apart from Wednesday, December 11, 15, 18 and 20 saw no deaths due to COVID.
