All he did was buy two bottles of Scotch at the Mumbai airport duty free, while flying in from Paris in late March, making him eligible for India's first airport raffle.

Lady luck shines The owner of two retail garment boutiques in the Caribbean, Dayalani has always wanted to own a Mercedes. "It was sheer luck that I filled up the raffles form. u00a0 I had time as my luggage hadn't arrived. I never dreamt a Rs 2,800 Johnnie Walker would win me a luxury car," he said. u00a0 In fact, quipped Dayalani, his family never considered him lucky. "I never win a quiz or housie. The only prize I have ever won is a sandwich at Subway," he chuckled. u00a0 But Dayalani will not take the Mercedes home. "I plan to keep it here and use it when I'm in India," he said and added that he frequents the city on business and has a house in Pune.
