Former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Tuesday announced that he will be joining the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. "Today is the beginning of a new political career of my life," Chavan said on Tuesday reported PTI.

Chavan, son of former CM Shankarrao Chavan, said that his choice to depart from the grand old party was independent and did not specify the reasons behind his exit.

His exit is the third blow to the party in succession as senior leaders Baba Siddique and Milind Deora also quit the party days ago.
Ashok Chavan hails from Nanded district in Marathwada region. He was also the state Congress chief during 2014-19.
He represented Bhokar assembly seat and is also the former MP from Nanded Lok Sabha constituency.
