Two bike-borne persons allegedly opened fire on former Malegaon mayor Abdul Malik near a petrol pump in Maharashtra`s Nashik district on Monday, police officials said. According to the police official`s statement to PTI, the incident happened early on Monday. 

The officials told the news agency that Malik, who sustained injuries in the incident, was sent to a neighbouring hospital and that his condition was now stable.
