If lectures are still online, why should we go to college, ask professors

City institutes issue directives asking 50 per cent of professors to report to duty on campus or face action; without access to local trains, teachers will waste time, money, energy in travelling

As if the past academic year — since the outbreak of the pandemic — was not enough trouble for them too, professors are now facing another issue, even as the city faces continued Level 3 restrictions. Many city colleges have called 50 per cent of their professors to hold online lectures from college premises.

For many professors such as one from a college in Andheri, this brings a new worry, as she stays in Virar and won't be able to meet these new directives, and is scared for her job. With no local train access for them yet, many professors like her are worried as to how to travel, and the consequences.
