As the symptoms during the current wave of Covid-19 are different from the earlier waves, the Indian Medical Association, Maharashtra state has set up a task force to roll out updated Covid management and treatment protocols to curb the spread of infection at personal and hospital level. In view of the rapidly rising cases, the doctors’ association has come forward to ensure standard protocols to be followed all over.

“Unlike the second wave, the symptoms now are more related to fever, body ache, headache, sore throat and do not affect the lungs. So the treatment protocol will be different. It is also important to know which medications to take and which to avoid as per the situation,” said Dr Mangesh Pate, secretary of IMA. He added that the protocol will not only be limited to medicine but will also cater to patients in isolation, infection control at home and hospital level, guidelines to curb the spread.
