A replica of the warship INS Vikrant, the first aircraft carrier of the Indian Navy, is ready to drop anchor at a traffic island near the Regal Cinema in Colaba.

While the work on a scaled down replica of the Vikrant is on, Colaba corporator Makarand Narwekar stated, “We are trying to finish the work by February and the installation will take place soon after. We will divulge more details as the installation date nears. One can sense the anticipation and excitement in the air, as this races to completion. The installation will be part of the Regal precinct beautification project. The replica will naturally be a scaled down version of the original, made from the pieces of the original warship. It should be evocative, speaking of the history of India’s celebrated warrior of the seas. I think this will be a proud moment not just for the Colaba community, or the city but the country too."
