Lake levels in seven reservoirs supplying water to city surge to 54.27 per cent

The Middle Vaitarna lake recorded the highest rise in level—1.40 metres in the last 24 hours, bringing its storage to 1,21,379 ML, or 62.72 per cent of its full capacity. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) records, on Saturday, the total water stock in the seven lakes supplying water to Mumbai stands at 7,85,492 million litres, which is 54.27 per cent of the total required stock for the season. 

Notably, the Middle Vaitarna lake recorded the highest rise in level—1.40 metres in the last 24 hours—bringing its storage to 1,21,379 ML, or 62.72 per cent of its full capacity. Other major contributors include Upper Vaitarna at 69.40 per cent (157,570 ML), Modak Sagar at 67.50 per cent (87,028 ML), and Tansa at 53.82 per cent (78,083 ML).

Bhatsa, which supplies a significant share to Mumbai’s municipal needs, is currently at 45.41per cent capacity, holding 3,25,598 ML. Vehar and Tulsi, the smaller lakes, are at 44.63 per cent and 43.15 per cent, respectively.
