The deceased, Amit Bhosle, is survived by his wife and two-year-old son. <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2011/dec/skidded.jpg" border="5" /> Death on the highway: Amit Bhosle lost control of the car and crashed into a divider killing him and causing serious injury to his friend. According to the police, Bhosle was driving his car at high speed when he lost control and hit the divider. His friend Sachin Dodmani (21), who was travelling with him, narrowly missed death, and escaped with a fractured leg and hand, and head injuries. Bhosle, a video editor with a private firm, decided to meet with his friends as it was a holiday. "We decided to meet our friends in Mulund. We both left in my car. On the way back, Bhosle decided to drive the car," said Dodmani. "He started manoeuvering the steering wheel dangerously, and soon he was driving the car at a speed of 120 kmph. I warned him repeatedly, but he did not pay any heed to me," said Dodmani, who is currently recuperating in Sion Hospital. As the vehicle crossed Andheri flyover, the speeding car hit the divider, turned turtle and skid to a distance of 20 feet. While the car was sliding, Bhosle was flung out of the car, while Dodmani remained rooted in it. When the car came to a standstill, Dodmani managed to get up, and a few bikers and a motorist rushed to help the duo. Bhosle, who had been badly injured in the accident, was rushed to V N Desai hospital, but was declared dead on admission. The tragic accident comes in the wake of a campaign undertaken by the cops to curb rash driving in the city. Mumbai traffic police on Saturday booked 2,804 motorists for violating traffic rules during a drive against people indulging in rash driving. 119 motorists were arrested for drunk driving, four for dangerous driving and one for rash driving. u00a0"The car was being driven at a high speed when the accident took place. We have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the deceased in the matter," said Niwas Vidhate, sub inspector at Vile Parle police station.
