The Maharashtra government is considering setting up a permanent mechanism on the lines of those in the US and UK to foil terror attacks, Home Minister Jayant Patil said here. 
 "Our Government is actively considering setting up a mechanism similar to those in the US and UK to foil terror attacks," Patil said at a workshop on 'Lessons from 9/11 and 7/7 for a safer Mumbai'. 
 The workshop, which focused on 9/11 US terror attacks and 7/7 London metro bombings, was held at Hotel Trident, which was hit in the 26/11 terror attacks. 
 Stressing the need for all countries to come together to combat terror, Patil said the anti-terror measures suggested by Bombay First, the NGO which organised the workshop, would be implemented. 
 US Consul General Paul Folmsbee, who was also present at the workshop, said terror attacks were rising globally and the US would extend all cooperation to curb such attacks in India. 
 Patil lauded the role of Mumbai police during the 26/11 attacks, saying policemen reached four spots hit by the terror attacks within 10 to 20 minutes.
