Sagar Jadhav, from Ambernath, was a scrawny, lightweight, whom people laughed at a few years ago, but the 29-year-old decided to get bulked up because deliverymen ‘got paid more’

A 29-year-old cylinder delivery man from Ambernath has left residents goggle-eyed with his buff physique and bulging biceps. Sagar Jadhav, who works with a gas agency, has become the talk of the town after pictures of him went viral online. Jadhav, who has been working with the agency since he was 17, delivers 50 to 60 cylinders a day, but still manages to keep himself in shape.

Tushar Bhamre, a public relations professional, had gone to the market on Saturday, when he spotted Sagar leaning against a cylinder van. “I was sitting in my car while my wife shopped, when I spotted Jadhav,” said Bhamre. “I was stunned. He was lost in thought and I secretly took a picture of him,” he added. Tushar then posted the picture on Facebook and got a tremendous response.
Realising the potential in this cylinder man as a poster boy, Tushar found out where Jadhav worked and invited him home.
“I apologised for posting Jadhav’s picture without his consent. When he came home, he told me ever since I had posted the picture, he has been flooded with calls and compliments,” Bhamre said.
Jadhav, who hails from Nashik, came to Ambernath with his elder brother at the age of 16. “We lost our parents early and many of our relatives were working with gas agencies in Ambernath. Somehow, I managed to study till Std XII, but not beyond that. So, I joined a gas agency, too” he said.
As he was very lean, Jadhav did desk jobs rather than deliver cylinders. “But, with cylinder delivery, the more you deliver, the more money you get. I weighed not more than 50 kg. People used to laugh at me. A delivery man has to deliver 50 to 60 cylinders every day, so I decided to start working out in the gym. Today, I am 78 kg,” Jadhav said.
After a 10-hour day, Jadhav works out for up to two hours at the gym. “Sometimes, I get tired, but I have got addicted to exercising. I can’t afford supplements or anything, but my hard work has blessed me with this result. Many times the people I deliver cylinders to compliment me and that encourages me. I am overwhelmed by all the calls and messages after the Facebook post,” Jadhav added.
