Maharashtra: Bar dancer assaulted by live-in partner in Ulwe

Assault takes place after the victim expresses her desire to shift to another house; duo was living together for past eight years

The Ulwe police have booked a man for allegedly assaulting his live-in partner in Ulwe after she expressed her desire to move to another house. The incident took place on Friday (September 19). According to the Ulwe police, the 24-year-old victim, a bar dancer in Panvel, has been staying with the accused, Rupesh Vilankar, 40, for the past eight years.

On Friday afternoon, the woman had gone to see a flat in Sector-23 in Ulwe; however, when she returned home, an enraged Vilankar allegedly began hurling abuses at her. The argument quickly escalated, and Vilankar thrashed her mercilessly. Following the incident, the victim rushed to Ulwe police station and lodged a complaint. A case has been registered against Vilankar under sections related to assault and verbal abuse, said police.
