While addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Sanjay Raut said, "Nobody cares about Shinde for the mayoral post. There is nothing more insulting than those who call themselves Shiv Sena and put up Balasaheb's photo and have to go to Delhi to sit at the feet of Gujarati leaders for the post of Mumbai mayor"

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday took a sharp swipe at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde amid speculation of a tussle within the Mahayuti alliance over the Mumbai mayoral post, saying the Sena leader would have to persuade senior BJP leaders if he wanted his party to secure the post in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), news agency ANI reported.
Although the BJP–Shiv Sena (Shinde) alliance swept the BMC elections, a decision on the mayoral post is yet to be finalised. The BJP emerged as the single largest party, winning 89 of the 227 seats, and is eyeing the top post, while Shinde is keen to retain the Shiv Sena’s long-standing control over India’s richest municipal corporation.
