Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday attended Viksit Bharat Viksit Railways event at Marine Lines station in Mumbai that was addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 2000 railway infrastructure projects worth more than Rs. 41,000 crores. The event, conducted via video conferencing, witnessed the participation of thousands of people from 500 railway stations and 1500 other venues across the nation, Press Information Bureau said in a statement.
Gracing the function held at Marine Lines station in Mumbai, Chief Minister Shinde addressed the gathering and emphasized the significance of the Viksit Bharat Viksit Railways initiative. He also felicitated the winners of various competitions held at schools in anticipation of the Amrit Bharat Station event.
Among the numerous projects, 66 railway stations under the jurisdiction of Western Railway are undergoing redevelopment at a cost of Rs. 4886 crore. Notably, this includes the transformation of eight suburban stations, namely Marine Lines, Charni Road, Grant Road, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, Jogeshwari, Malad, and Palghar, with an approximate investment of Rs. 233 crore.
Prior to the live telecast of the PM's event, local functions were organized at the aforementioned stations, witnessing the participation of esteemed dignitaries including governors, chief ministers, MPs, MLAs, and representatives from various public organizations. The occasion was marked by cultural performances and the distribution of prizes to winners of different school competitions.
In his address, Prime Minister Modi hailed today's program as a testament to the new work culture of New India, emphasizing the nation's commitment to realizing ambitious goals with unprecedented speed and scale. He lauded the youth of India for their contribution to the development projects, noting the employment opportunities and benefits that would accrue to them as a result of these initiatives.
PM Modi highlighted the transformative impact of the modernization efforts in Indian Railways, which have witnessed significant advancements in infrastructure, technology, and service quality. He underscored the role of railways in driving economic growth and fostering connectivity across the country, reiterating the government's commitment to making India the third-largest economy in the world.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of efficient utilization of taxpayers' money for the welfare of commuters and the creation of new sources of income and employment through infrastructure development. He concluded by outlining the vision for the next five years, envisioning a revolution in investment and capacity enhancement in Indian Railways through the modernization of thousands of stations nationwide.
