  3. Starting from Tuesday, this route will be regularly open for traffic from 7 am to 11 pm

The second tunnel of the Coastal Road (south end) will be opened, after an Inspection by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and various dignitaries today. With the opening, motorists will be able to travel from Marine Drive to Bhulabhai Desai Road, Barrister Rajni Patel Chowk (Lotus Jetty), and Vatsalabai Desai Chowk (Haji Ali Chowk).

Starting from Tuesday, this route will be regularly open for traffic from 7 am to 11 pm, for a total of 16 hours daily. The route will be open five days a week, from Monday to Friday, and will remain closed on Saturday and Sunday to facilitate the completion of the remaining project work.

The ambitious Coastal Road (south) project, being constructed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), is over 90 per cent complete, and the final stages of the project are being rapidly completed.

The second underground tunnel starting from Marine Drive for northbound traffic will be inspected by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, Dy CM Ajit Pawar, Mumbai City District Guardian Minister Deepak Kesarkar, Mumbai Suburban District Guardian Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, AMC (Eastern Suburbs) Amit Saini, and other dignitaries.

The approximately 6.25 km-long route from Marine Drive to Haji Ali will have interchanges at Amarsons Garden and Haji Ali, which will facilitate smoother traffic flow by allowing entry and exit at these points. Traffic flow will be smoother from Barrister Rajni Patel Chowk (Lotus Jetty) towards Worli, Bandra, and from Vatsalabai Desai Chowk (Haji Ali) towards Tardeo, Mahalaxmi, and Pedder Road.

Additionally, to facilitate smoother northbound travel, there are plans to open the next phase of the Coastal Road up to Bindumadhav Thackeray Chowk by July 10, and work is being carried out accordingly.

The southbound route of the Coastal Road from Worli to Marine Drive was opened for traffic on March 11.
