Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole on Monday expressed his party`s unwavering commitment to removing what he termed the "authoritarian" government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India. Patole likened the BJP`s actions to those of British colonial rulers and criticised the privatisation of key national assets, alleging that the Modi government was selling off public enterprises.

"The BJP is looting the country just like the Britishers did. The BJP government sold railways, airports, power distribution companies, and many other public enterprises. The Modi government is running the country by selling the country`s assets. There is an attempt to end the democratic system, the constitution, and the judicial system of the country. But just as the powerful British rule that looted the country was thrown out, the Congress party`s objective is to throw out the BJP`s authoritarian government," Nana Patole said.
