Maharashtra: Decomposed body of Thane man found hanging from tree

The decomposed body of a 25-year-old Thane man was found hanging from a tree in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Maharashtra's Thane city on Sunday, an official said, reported news agency PTI.


Some people alerted the police about a body in the Yeoor area of the national park, which straddles Mumbai and Thane.


Local firemen and civic workers brought the decomposed body of Thane man down from the tree, said Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Disaster Management Cell of Thane Municipal Corporation, reported PTI.


The decomposed body of Thane man was identified as that of one Pritam Rakesh Ziman, who had been missing since May 22, said assistant inspector Anil Shirole of Chitalsar police station, reported PTI.

Ziman was jobless he said, adding that no suicide note was found at the spot. The police have registered a case of accidental death and are probing the matter, reported PTI.

In another incident, the body of a man, aged 40-45 years, was found in a creek in Maharashtra's Thane district on Friday, an official said, reported PTI.

Locals spotted the body in the Reti Bunder creek in the Mumbra area around 8 am and alerted the police, reported PTI.

Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane civic body, said their rescuers fished out the body from the creek and it was sent to a government hospital for post-mortem, reported PTI.

The police have registered a case of accidental death, said an official from the Mumbra police station.
