The Maharashtra government’s Rural Development Department has launched an investigation into a fraudulent government resolution (GR) that resulted in the approval and tendering of development works worth Rs 6.94 crore in Ahilyanagar district, located around 270 kilometres from Mumbai, an official said on Monday.
The fake GR, dated October 3, 2024, was issued just days before the Model Code of Conduct came into force on October 15 ahead of the Assembly elections.
The GR authorised infrastructure projects under budget head 2515 1238, which is allocation for providing basic amenities in villages based on the recommendations of elected representatives, reported news agency PTI.
