Maharashtra: Rain to be back from today!

IMD issues green alert for city starting September 7 until Saturday, yellow alert for Sunday; rain across the state expected to bring respite from heat

After a lull, the monsoon is set to make a resurgence Maharashtra, including in Mumbai and its surrounding areas, starting from September 7. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a green alert, signifying moderate rainfall, for Mumbai on September 7, 8 and 9 and a yellow alert, indicating rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, for September 10.

According to the IMD’s forecast, beginning on September 7, widespread rainfall is expected in all regions of Maharashtra, including North Konkan, South Konkan, Goa, North Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, East Vidarbha, and West Vidarbha. Interestingly, Mumbai was under a green alert on Wednesday, but in the 24-hour period ending on the morning of September 6, the Santacruz weather station recorded a mere 0.1 mm of rainfall, while the Colaba observatory reported no rainfall.
