The resident doctors across Maharashtra protested on Friday against the attack on doctors by an admitted patient in Yavatmal-based government hospital. The resident doctors at Shri Vasantrao Naik Government Medical College (GMC) have refused to provide even emergency medical care at the hospital. According to the doctors in Yavatmal, the doctor who was attacked suffered a major injury on his neck on Thursday after which he was taken for surgery and admitted to the ICU ward.

Additionally, two more doctors who came to the rescue of their colleague also suffered injuries. “Both the doctors are admitted in the general ward. The doctor who was stabbed by a knife is in stable condition,” said Dr Avinash Dahiphale, president of the Central Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD).
