In Maharashtra's Pune district, the rear windshield of a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus, slated to transport attendees to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's event in Shirdi, was shattered when a stone was thrown at it. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident as the bus was unoccupied at the time, as confirmed by a local police official.

Prime Minister Modi was in Shirdi to inaugurate various infrastructure projects during a public event, which followed his participation in religious rituals at the revered Shri Saibaba Samadhi Temple in the town. To facilitate the transportation of people to the event in Shirdi, several buses operated by the Maharashtra State Transport Corporation (MSRTC) were deployed throughout the Pune district.
The incident occurred near Mangrul village, where an unidentified individual threw a stone, breaking the rear windshield. The local police have registered a non-cognisable offence against the unknown perpetrator.
In a related development, reports indicate that some buses in the Shevgaon tehsil area were allegedly turned away by members of Maratha outfits who are actively protesting for reservation in government jobs and education for their community. The protest was led by activist Manoj Jarange, who began an indefinite fast in Jalna district over the Maratha quota issue.
Before inaugurating the infrastructure projects, Prime Minister Modi performed religious rites at the renowned Shri Saibaba Samadhi Temple in Shirdi and was accompanied by Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis. Subsequently, Modi conducted the 'Jal Pujan' of Nilwande Dam, situated in Ahmednagar district, and inaugurated the dam's left bank canal network.
After the inauguration of several projects, PM Modi, in his speech, said that some persons from Maharashtra only engaged in politics in the name of farmers, according to the report in PTI. The comment was reportedly aimed at Sharad Pawar, who handled the agriculture portfolio during the UPA government. He added that the NDA government led by him was committed to farmer welfare and stated that cultivators are now getting MSP (minimum support price) money for their products directly into their bank accounts.
