Man, 74, kills Bandra cyclist in hit-and-run

Ronnie Fernandez, 35, a cycle lover who loved to take his bike to work, was run over by Avrul Haasan Sayyed, who did not stop to help

The Bandra Police have arrested a 74-year-old man for hitting a cyclist with his car and fleeing the spot . The locals took the cyclist to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.The deceased, identified as Ronnie Fernandez, a resident of Bandra, worked at the Western Railway workshop in Lower Parel and loved to cycle to office.

In a statement to police, the victim’s cousin Melvin Fernandes said, “The family had gathered at Ronnie’s railway colony house as one of our relatives was going abroad. He left home in the afternoon for work and at around 2:30 pm we were informed about the accident. When we reached the hospital he was already dead.”
